Davin's 1st Stitches

Davin got 3 stitches in his eye brow on Monday night. He and his cousins were playing and his cousin was using a hockey stick as a sword and swinging it around. Davin came up behind him and whack! Oh-Cade felt so horrible but I hope he knows it wasn't just his fault- Accidents happen-its part of growing up and learning. Anyway, Davin needs to watch where he's walking. Baseball bats are not as forgiving as hockey sticks.
(This is right after urgent care that night)

Here is a couple days later
and with the flash off
I am sure that this will be the first of many black eyes and stitches. I am actually surprised he's made it this long without either.

He is so strong though-it took 4 of us to hold him down while the Dr put the stitches in. They said that he was by far the strongest 2 yr old they had ever seen. They should have seen the fight he put up right after while my Dad was trying to get ice on it.

All in all, I am so grateful that it wasn't worse and I am grateful for a loving family and nephews that care so much for their cousin. Cade and Carson felt so bad and emptied out their wallets to help pay for urgent care. (I will make sure they get it back some way). I know how long they have been saving to have "fun money" in California and especially at Legoland and that they sooo willingly gave it all cuz they knew it would be a way they could help makes my heart break. When we were leaving for urgent care, I was bawling tears and not because Davin's eyebrow was bleeding and swelling but because of how incredibly honored I am to have such incredible nephews that my son plays with, learns from and absolutely idolizes.

(ps-on the way to urgent care, Davin asked "play with Cade and Carson tomorrow, yeah?" Bryan and I both laughed. I really don't think Davin ever realized what or who hit him or else it just didn't matter)

  1. OH NO! I am so sorry! Poor guy! We haven't had to deal with stitches yet, but you're right-with these little guys I'm sure we're in for plenty of ER visits!

  3. that's crazy how strong of a kid you have liz! i've actually never had stitches or broken anything, but my sis christi did every year on average growing up so my parents got used to the ER and taking her to get slurpees after every stitch up....hopefully you won't make a habit of visiting the urgent care though! hope he's feeling better.
