Okay, we went to Helzberg Diamonds a week before Christmas to get my little sister, Lauren, some pearl earrings for Christmas. Well, I asked them to clean my ring and thankfully, the woman working there looked at my ring under the microscope first to check for loose diamonds. Surprise surprise-NOT. I had 7 loose diamonds in my gypsy channel setting. RRRRRRrrrrr, it gets so old. So, I put my gorgeous wedding ring in a little plastic bag, took it home and put it in my drawer in my kitchen with all my bills and junk. I was so busy during the holidays with my party and brunch and then New Year's Eve party that I didn't even think about my ring till about mid way through January. I went to the drawer and my ring wasn't there. I called Bryan and he said he hadn't seen it. I looked in my jewelry case and other hiding places. Then, I started freaking and tore my whole house upside down (which I had just got put back together from all the holiday commotion) looking for this ring. I cried and cried. No ring anywhere. I called my home owners and they said they could only give me a grand for my 5 thousand dollar ring. Note-you have to take out a special little side insurance on your home owner's policy specifically for your wedding ring. Wish I would have known.
So, I have no ring. Well, shortly after we went and visited our good friend Taylor Searle who had just had shoulder surgery and I talked with his parents, Ron and Peggy (they own the Diamond Consortium where we get all our jewelry). I actually had to get a new setting anyways cuz my 18K white gold was still irritating my skin. I had to upgrade to platinum which is like triple the price of 18K gold which is like 1 1/2 the price of 14K. They actually had a platinum ring in that they would give me a nice price at. They are such good people. Well, we went to the store the next day and the ring is mine! It is gorgeous. Way different from my last ring but gorgeous. I will have to take a pic and post it.
I am sad though. I loved my wedding ring and I hope that someday it will magically appear but I don't think that is going to happen. At least I took good pictures of it while I had it.

Oh my gosh! I would be a mess. I'm sorry that you can't find your ring. I'm glad that you got a new one. I can't wait to see it! My ring came from the Diamond Consortium, too! :)

ReplyDeleteHey, I have that seperate policy on my ring. (I know about it because I use to sell insurance). I wish I could loose my ring because it is insured for what it appraised at which is way under the amount we bought it for.
